Gouache Explorations
Wednesdays April 16-May 28

Develop your gouache skills while using them in a new way! Painting with gouache on a black surface creates an ethereal feeling. Students will learn color mixing, layering, basic composition, light and shadow, basic color theory, and more! Students will work from direct observation for our paintings. Teaching will include demos as well as one on one guidance.

Join us for a captivating woodburning design demonstration, where you'll discover the art of pyrography and learn how to transform a simple piece of wood into a stunning work of art. Our skilled instructor Carla Bartow will guide you through the process, showcasing techniques for creating intricate designs with the use of a woodburning tool. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you'll gain hands-on knowledge about shading, line work, texture, and the various effects that can be achieved with heat on wood. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions, get personalized tips, and leave with inspiration to start your own woodburning projects. Intro to woodburning

Learn the art of pyrography in this dynamic class. We will start with basic mark making using the wood burning tools. Students will then progress to line work, working with outlines and words. We will progress through shading, exploring different shading techniques like cross hatching and stippling. Students will learn through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance.
